NREL's workforce research spans from forecasting and analysis to deep engagement with energy sector stakeholders through prizes, partnerships, practitioner convenings, and capacity building to support the development of a robust energy workforce.

To advance solutions to energy workforce challenges, NREL works across sectors and in partnership with U.S. Department of Energy offices, state agencies, foundations, and more. NREL focuses on job roles across all phases of energy deployment and all energy technologies, including buildings, geothermal, hydropower, marine energy, wind, and solar. These efforts engage with K-12, higher education, apprenticeships, and job seekers to attract and develop the energy workforce of the future.
